Our highly trained skin doctors will make recommendations for monitoring, testing, treatment or specialist referral. Do you know how to monitor your own skin, or when you should consult a medical professional? You can learn more on our Awareness and Prevention page.

Skin Check

In this 30-minute consultation we examine your skin from head-to-toe for any suspect looking pre-malignant or malignant lesions. Depending on your age, skin type and lifestyle, we may recommend regular skin checks or mole mapping. Time permitting, we may perform biopsies or basic treatment of “at risk” spots during your appointment, at no additional out of pocket expense. Anyone can develop skin cancer. Do you know how to determine your level of risk? You can learn more on our Awareness and Prevention page.

Mole Mapping

Mole mapping is one of the most effective and advanced methods for the early detection of cancerous moles. In this 45 minute appointment, our highly trained technicians use AI-assisted technology to photograph your body and individual lesions. A skin doctor will meet with you to determine your level of risk, perform a head-to-toe examination, assess any “suspect” lesions and make recommendations about further monitoring, testing, treatment or specialist referral. Your photographs are saved on a secure database to enable our expert team to compare images, monitor your skin and identify any changes over time. You’ll receive a personal skin report, which can be provided to your GP or specialist. Prevention and early detection are your best line of defence against skin cancer. You can learn more on our Awareness and Prevention page.

TREATMENT

Surgical Procedures

Our highly experienced skin doctors are surgically trained to perform biopsies, serial curettage, excisions, skin flaps and grafts. After we remove “suspect” or “at risk” lesions, the tissue is sent for laboratory testing. Your doctor will examine the results and make recommendations for further treatment, monitoring or specialist referral. You can learn more about skin surgery on the Awareness and Prevention page of our website.

Photodynamic Therapy

If you have precancerous sunspots or early malignant lesions, your skin doctor may recommend Photodynamic Therapy (PTD). PDT has revolutionised the management of visible and microscopic sunspots and can reduce the risk of surface or superficial skin lesions becoming cancerous in the future. A whole area can be treated with much less downtime, quicker recovery and often better cosmetic results than other topical treatments. PDT is non-invasive and rejuvenates the skin, by improving texture, tone, pigmentation and pore size. Although PDT is not covered by Medicare, privately insured patients may be able to claim some of the cost through their health fund. You can learn more about PDT on the Awareness and Prevention page of our website.

Topical Therapies

Certain types of precancerous and early malignant lesions respond well to simple topical treatments. Cryotherapy is administered by your doctor and involves freezing “suspect” lesions. You doctor may prescribe creams for you to apply topically at home. The number of recommended applications may vary. You can learn more about topical therapies on the Awareness and Prevention page of our website.
